Sherry Lansing Receives the Aixplorer Achievement Award 2010-2011 from SuperSonic Imagine.

Sherry Lansing, founder and CEO of the Sherry Lansing Foundation, esteemed philanthropist in the fight against cancer, former CEO of Paramount Pictures and 2007 recipient of the Jean Hersholt Humaitarian Award at the Academy Awards, was presented the first Aixplorer Acheivement Award 2010-2011 by SuperSonic Imagine’s CEO Jacques Souquet at an RSNA 2010 company event entitled ‘Aixploring the Breakthroughs Against Cancer.’’ Ms. Lansing delivered an inspirational and heart warming speech about how cancer has affected those she loves and how these experiences have prompted her to dedicate herself to raising funds for cancer research and education.
The Aixplorer Achievement Award was established to recognize, honor and celebrate the outstanding contribution of time, leadership or financial support, to advance cancer research and awareness. Individuals, companies or associations who have made an exceptional impact in these areas are eligible for nomination.
Ms. Lansing has been actively involved in cancer-related research and philanthropy through several organizations. In December 2004, Lansing was appointed to the Independent Citizens' Oversight Committee of the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine. CIRM was established by California's groundbreaking ballot measure, Proposition 71, which provides $3 billion in funding for embryonic stem cell research. Lansing serves as the cancer patient advocate, as well as Chair of the Governance Committee and Co-Chair of the Scientific and Medical Accountability Standards Working Group.
In 2005, Ms. Lansing created The Sherry Lansing Foundation (SLF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to cancer research, health, and public education. She serves on the Executive Committee of the Friends of Cancer Research board, and on the boards of the Lasker Foundation and the American Association for Cancer Research. Lansing also lends her energy and talents to the American Red Cross Board of Governors and to Stop Cancer, a nonprofit philanthropic group she founded in partnership with the late Dr. Armand Hammer. As a co-founder of the Stand Up To Cancer i, Lansing leads an initiative which funds collaborative, multi-institutional cancer research “dream teams.” In addition, she sits on the boards of The Carter Center and Civic Ventures.
