Thyroid : MultiWave™ Ultrasound Imaging for the Thyroid
MultiWave™ Ultrasound Imaging for the Thyroid
The highest rates for thyroid cancer in the world occur in the USA, where the female age standardized rate is 8.1 per 100,000 females compared with 1.4 per 100,000 females in Western Africa.
In 2002 there were 19,034 new cases in Europe. More cases occur in females aged 15-44 than any other age group.
Conventional diagnostic imaging methods for the thyroid have limiting factors that have not been able to demonstrate objective images of tumor elasticity. Today, SuperSonic Imagine has developed a unique technology which combines ShearWave™ Elastography with UltraFast™ Imaging to facilitate the detection of lesions that would not previously have been detected.
Aixplorer®’s Thyroid application package has been developed to offer exceptional features in reply to specific imaging needs:
Trapezoidal Imaging offers two revolutionary features: extended field of view to capture the whole thyroid gland, independent of size, and expanded measurement capabilities extending outside the image area.
Dual Imaging
Both lobes of the thyroid can be imaged separately in B-Mode and merged to display the entire thyroid gland into one image.

Annotations and Body Marker Libraries
Required annotation(s), body marker(s) and transducer orientation for thyroid anatomy may be selected directly from the touch screen.
Pioneering Thy-RADS™ Documentation Tool
This unique feature provides a standardized descriptive checklist, similar to the BI-RADS® (American College of Radiology: Breast Imaging – Reporting and Data System) which enables quick identification and documentation for nodule characterization in thyroid pathology. Thy-RADS™ can be simultaneously applied on up to 8 thyroid nodules at a time. Descriptors can then be included in the final report.
The SuperLinear™ SL 15-4 transducer is designed to help acquire the most accurate data possible for every clinical thyroid exam. The lightweight transducer has been ergonomically studied and validated by physicians and sonographers to fit perfectly in the hand in a relaxed position.
• This unique transducer technology provides both outstanding B-Mode image quality and ShearWave™ Elastography performance.
• The 50mm linear array transducer for thyroid is equipped with an extended frequency range from 4-15 MHz.
